About PandaMae

Hi, I’m Miranda — the designer behind PandaMae.

At PandaMae, crochet is more than yarn and stitches — it’s the way I found my way back to art.

Hi, I’m Miranda, the artist behind PandaMae.

When I was 10 years old, I lost my vision due to a brain tumor. Before that, I loved art deeply. I loved painting, drawing, and creating things with my hands, so losing my sight felt devastating. Suddenly, the creative world I knew felt out of reach.

That’s when my mother taught me how to crochet.

For the first time since losing my vision, I found an art form I could truly experience again. Crochet allowed me to create in a tactile, three-dimensional way — not by seeing every detail, but by feeling it take shape in my hands stitch by stitch. It gave me a way to reconnect with creativity, imagination, and joy.

That experience became the foundation of PandaMae.

Today, I create original crochet soft sculptures, custom installations, heirloom plush creations, and beginner-friendly crochet patterns designed to bring comfort, wonder, and connection into people’s lives. From giant sea turtles and oversized animals to cozy loveys and whimsical character designs, every piece is handmade with intention and heart.

My work blends softness and storytelling with large-scale fiber art, creating pieces that feel playful, comforting, and memorable. I especially love creating immersive crochet sculptures for businesses, children’s spaces, events, and collectors looking for something truly unique.

What Makes PandaMae Different

  • Handmade original crochet sculpture designs
  • Custom soft installations and statement pieces
  • Art created through touch, texture, and form
  • Cozy, timeless designs meant to feel comforting and joyful
  • Beginner-friendly patterns focused on creativity and accessibility
  • A deep belief that art should make people feel something

Most PandaMae creations are designed and handmade from my small studio in West Virginia, where ideas usually begin with yarn everywhere, a lot of trial and error, and the question:

“What if I made this bigger?”

I love sharing the real behind-the-scenes process — the messy middle, the experiments, the giant projects taking over my apartment — because PandaMae was never built around perfection. It was built around resilience, creativity, and finding a new way to experience art.

Crochet gave me back something I thought I had lost forever.

And now, through PandaMae, I hope my work brings a little wonder, comfort, and imagination into the lives of others too. 💜
